The talking TVonics Freeview boxes have been very popular with visually impaired people for many years. They provide access to television listings and recording features with full speech support. Unfortunately, after developing the boxes in 2011, TVOnics went into liquidation. If your box is no longer functioning as it should, we can help. We are very pleased to offer a repair “Service” for TVOnics DTR-Z500HD and DTR-HD500 models. Refurbished set top boxes may be available subject to stock. Replacement remote controls and power supplies are also available. Please contact us for more information.
How much does a repair cost?
We offer two repair Service options:
A full Service without recording transfer.
This Service costs £99 and includes:
- Replacing the original 500GB hard drive with a 1TB hard drive, which gives you double the recording time.
- Carrying out a full box reset and software update.
- Replacing the original power supply with a brand new one.
- Testing your box for a minimum of 3 hours to ensure it is fully functioning.
SSD hard drives have no moving parts and can make your TVonics box even more responsive. If you would like a 1TB SSD drive instead of a mechanical hard drive, the total cost is £199. Larger hard drive capacities are available on request.
All replacement parts are covered under a 12 month manufacturer’s warranty.
A full Service with recordings transfer.
This Service costs £199. It includes all of the above, plus transfer of recordings from your old hard drive to the new one.

What is the turnaround time for repairs?
Repairs usually take a few days from when we receive the box. We will do our best to return the box to you as soon as possible.
Do you supply replacement remotes and power supplies?
Yes, replacement remote controls and power supplies cost £19.99 each.
Do you service other set top boxes?
Yes, we can service Goodmans Smart Talk set top boxes and we can also supply replacement Goodmans remote controls and power supplies.
